The Minnesota Poodle claims to be a riff on the Colorado Bulldog and we think it's just lovely. To smoke cotton candy, use sassafras smoking pellets and fill your infusion vessel with smoke for several seconds, allowing the cotton candy to absorb the flavor.
MINNESOTA POODLE In your drinking glass, add 2 ounces Balcones Baby Blue .75 ounce Kahlua fill nearly to the top with root beer splash about .5 ounces cream Garnish with sassafras smoked cotton candy
Some people can be so egocentric about their old fashioned cocktails!! (I'm talking to you Texas.) If you stroll into a bar in Minnesota and ask for one, you'll probably get something just like this! In Texas, you'll get minimal fruit, only a smidge of sugar, and bourbon on one single big ice cube. And I always say - the best drink is the one my guest enjoys! So, drink your old fashioned the way you enjoy it!
NORTHERNER'S OLD FASHIONED Build in glass: place 1 sugar cube douse with 4-5 dashes Angostura add orange wedge and cherry muddle like you mean it! add 2 ounces Balcones Pot Still fill the glass with ice splash seltzer and lemon lime soda
PEACH BLOSSOM 2 ounces Van Gogh peach vodka 1.5 ounces coconut water 3 dashes orange flower water 1-2 kumquats, sliced Shake all ingredients. Top with soda water (I like LaCroix Beach Plum) Garnish with more kumquat slices and bursting boba pearls.
The "messy" dump of this cocktail lets all the yummy bits of fresh produce work their way into your drink. The flavors get more intense the longer the drink sits. And, bonus, you can eat your veggies after your done. So healthy, it's practically a salad!
Skinny Spicy 2 ounces tequila 1 ounce fresh lime juice .75 ounce agave syrup (1:1) "handful" ~quarter cup of finely chopped cucumber, green apple, red pepper 2-3 droppers Thai chili tincture
Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin with ice. Shake vigorously for a little longer than you normally would. Dump the entire contents into a chili salt rimmed glass.
To garnish, diagonally slice a cucumber and dip it in chili salt.
A cute little glass like this can be all the difference between a serious margarita and a whimsical cocktail party. Buying and selling vintage glassware is one of my favorite past-times.
Strawberry Margarita 2 ounces Milagro tequila 1 ounce lime juice .5 ounce agave syrup (1;) .5 ounce Cointreau Muddle 2-3 strawberries in a shaker tin, then add all ingredients. Shake. Fine strain into your desired glass. Garnish with strawberry slices.
Hard Seltzer, as a cocktail? Yes! More and more bars are getting into this trend and I was tickled pink when I got asked to make a few recipes for these new flavors. Ask for this one in your local bar.
Mango Firing Squad 1.5 ounces reposado tequila Mango Picosito Canijilla Tabasco Pour tequila and Canijilla over ice in a short rocks glass. Top with several dashes of hot sauce. Garnish with lime wedges. Serve with remainder of can on the side.
